Gulf Giants will take on MI Emirates in Match No. 26 of DP World ILT20 2025. The only two teams to have won the tournament so far are currently on diametrically opposite ends of the points table, even though MIE have only two points more.
Both the teams played their most recent match against the Desert Vipers. While Emirates won the game, it were the GG, who had to take a loss in their stride.
MI Emirates rode on Tom Banton's second century of the season to post a huge total against the Vipers. The Emirates' bowlers then got on top of the match to bowl the Vipers out for just 74 and register a huge win.
Gulf Giants, though, had a rough time. Giants's top order collapsed to Sam Curran and their middle order to Wanindu Hasaranga, before Tom Curran pulled it back with an amazing innings that could only take his team to 129, although they were 61/8 at one stage. Giants bowlers struck back at various points in the game, but Max Holden held the game together to see the Vipers home.
Gulf Giants will probably take solace from the fact that they had gotten the better of MIE in their previous fixture from this year. Bowlers from both sides had a field day. Despite a fifty from Tom Banton, MIE were restricted to 152. MIE bowlers then came out in full force, taking wickets at regular intervals as GG needed all 20 of their overs to chase down what looked like a modest total at the start.
Let us now look at upcoming milestones for players of both teams
38 - James Vince needs 38 runs to reach 1000 runs in the DP World ILT20.
50 - Tom Alsop needs 50 runs to reach 2000 runs in the shortest format of the game.
