Mumbai: Even before the Indian Premier League started, all the focus was around MS Dhoni as speculations were rife that he will retire. But now, it seems, there could be a twist in the tale. Dhoni, who is 42, may feature in the upcoming season of the IPL reckons former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer. The former India opener tweeted that Dhoni has always done things no one has expected when it comes to retiring. Then Jaffer said if that is any trend to go by, Dhoni may have other plans.
Jaffer’s tweet read: “MS has always done things that no one expected especially when it comes to retiring from formats. Now everyone is expecting him to retire after this IPL.. Baki aap khud samajhdar hai.”
Coming in with four balls left in the innings, Dhoni clobbered a hattrick of sixes of Hardik Pandya to help CSK post 206 for four in 20 overs.
Meanwhile, opener Rohit Sharma’s valiant second Indian Premier League (IPL) century went in vain as a four-wicket haul from Matheesha Pathirana managed to restrict a power-packed Mumbai Indians (MI) line-up to 186/6 in their 20 overs and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) secured a 20-run win at Wankhede Stadium.
After the game, MI captain Hardik Pandya credited Dhoni for being the difference.
