Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan has stirred controversy with his remarks on cricketers allegedly messaging female actors. Speaking on Geo News' Hasna Mana Hai, Shadab downplayed the accusations, suggesting that some actresses use such claims for publicity, especially during major tournaments.
"Even if cricketers send messages, what is wrong with that?" Shadab responded when asked if he had ever messaged an actress. He further emphasized that social media provides users with the option to block or ignore messages.
"Everybody has the option to block. If you don't like it, don't reply. However, there are also replies from actors, and they appear to show interest as well-as if they want to talk," he added. As per Shadab, some actors do it for fame.
Shadab also revealed that such discussions are common in the dressing room. According to him, actors making allegations against cricketers often do so to gain attention, particularly when the cricketing world is focused on major events.
"We have seen some videos in which things are exaggerated, but it doesn't turn out like that. Some actors do it for fame. Like during a tournament or World Cup, such things come out because everyone is keeping their eyes on it," he said.
His remarks come after Pakistani TikToker Shahtaj Khan claimed last year that she had been in contact with Shadab on WhatsApp and Instagram and had even proposed marriage to him. However, Shadab, who has been married to Malaika-daughter of former Pakistan cricketer Saqlain Mushtaq-dismissed these allegations.
"There's nothing like what's being claimed," he said, rejecting Shahtaj's assertions. Shahtaj had earlier expressed her disappointment, stating, "I was disheartened after he got married, which I believe is quite normal when your crush marries someone else. I was talking to him even at that time but had no idea that he was about to get married."
Additionally, actress Nawal Saeed has also claimed that Pakistani cricketers frequently message her, further fueling the ongoing debate. The comments have sparked mixed reactions, with some defending his stance while others criticize him for seemingly dismissing the concerns raised by actresses and social media personalities.
