Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 20 runs in the high voltage match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) played at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. In this match, former MI captain Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant century, but while chasing the target of 207 runs, he could not succeed in leading his team to victory. Meanwhile, former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee praised Rohit by calling him 'selfless'. While talking on Geo Cinema after the match, Lee praised the Hitman's innings and said that Rohit not celebrating his century shows how much the team's victory means to him.
47 year old Brett Lee said, “Rohit Sharma scored a brilliant century. He scored good runs. I liked it when he scored his century. He did not even lift his bat. This shows that the team's victory matters more to him than his own achievements. He played with the intention of winning from the very first ball. He played shots all around the ground, but then cleverly scored an unbeaten 105* in 63 balls with the help of 11 fours and 5 sixes. “Unfortunately, you can’t do everything on your own.”
It is known that apart from Sharma, no other Mumbai batsman could score even a half-century in the match. Players like Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Tim David also failed to help Rohit and the opener returned unbeaten at one end. With the defeat, MI team has reached 8th position in the current points table with 2 wins and 4 losses in 6 matches.
