Delhi: Jasprit Bumrah won the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year title in 2024, performing brilliantly in Test cricket. Bumrah has become the sixth Indian player to get this honor. Prior to that the award was won by Rahul Dravid (2004), Gautam Gambhir (2009), Virender Sehwag (2010), Ravichandran Ashwin (2016), and Virat Kohli (2018).

With this award, India has equaled Australia's record, where most of the players have received this award. The only player to win the award twice is Steve Smith of Australia (2015, 2017).
In 2024, Bumrah overtook all the bowlers with 71 wickets in 13 Tests. After him, Gas Atkinson of England took 52 wickets in 11 Tests. The special thing is that Bumrah threw a total of 357 overs and bowled with an excellent average of 14.92.
After recovering from a back injury in late 2023, Bumrah made a strong comeback in Test cricket. India won the domestic series against England and Bangladesh led by him, while also performed brilliantly in South Africa and Australia abroad. Bumrah took the most wickets in Test cricket throughout the year and harassed the batsmen at a strike rate of 30.1.
In 2024, Jasprit Bumrah achieved another special achievement. He became the fourth Indian bowler to take more than 70 Test wickets in a year. Prior to them, this record was named after Ravichandran Ashwin, Anil Kumble and Kapil Dev.
