As the Champions Trophy 2025 nears, India waits in bated breath for the latest on Jasprit Bumrah.

The star India pacer is suffering from a back injury and is currently racing against time for a recovery before the commencement of the ICC tournament.

Bumrah, who injured his back in the final Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, is included in the Champions Trophy squad, but his participation chances are highly doubtful.

According to a report from the Times of India, the Indian pacer may travel to New Zealand and will be reviewed by orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Rowan Schouten there. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is awaiting his medical report and feedback. However, the BCCI is already planning a backup as Bumrah's fitness for the ICC Champions Trophy next month seems uncertain.

Bumrah has been named in the Champions Trophy squad and for the third ODI against England on February 12 in Ahmedabad. However, there are low expectations regarding his availability. The final date for changes to the Champions Trophy squad is February 11.

The Hyderabad pacer was left out of the Champions Trophy squad but may find a lucky break if Jasprit Bumrah is out injured. Siraj's form has been under the radar but his experience at ICC events may fast-track the selection if Bumrah is unable to participate.

Harshit Rana

Harshit Rana is a potential player up in the pecking order. The Delhi pacer is part of the England ODI series and a decent outing in that tournament may facilitate his selection for the Champions Trophy. Rana's pace and accuracy along with variations can be a big weapon for India on tricky Dubai pitches.

Prasidh Krishna

Another player who may emerge as an option is Karnataka's Prasidh Krishna. The lanky pacer played in the final Test of the BGT and then showcased his mettle in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Krishna has been an India player in patches and was part of the World Cup 2023 squad as well.
