Former Team India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar often becomes a victim of criticism due to his statements, once again something like this is happening. This time Sanjay Manjrekar has said such a thing against RCB which his fans are not able to digest. Manjrekar said that AB de Villiers played for the wrong franchise. If he had played somewhere else instead of RCB, the fans would have had a real idea of his greatness. Sanjay Manjrekar said this kind of thing in a show of Star Sports.
Sanjay Manjrekar said, 'AB de Villiers was not used properly in IPL.
Couldn't see his real ability. If he had batted higher in the batting order in IPL, things would have been different. Sad to say that he played for a wrong franchise (RCB). If De Villiers had played for any other team, we would have known his real greatness.AB de Villiers has played 184 matches in IPL in which he scored 5162 runs at an average of more than 39. AB de Villiers' strike rate was also more than 150. De Villiers scored 3 centuries and 40 half-centuries in IPL. De Villiers played the first three seasons of IPL for Delhi Capitals and he joined RCB in 2011.
De Villiers gave real performance for RCB from the year 2015. This player scored 513 runs in 2015. In the 2016 season, RCB scored 687 runs. From 2018 to 2020, De Villiers scored more than 400 runs in every season. IPL 2021 was de Villiers' last season and after that he retired.AB de Villiers was often seen playing the role of finisher in RCB. He used to bat at number 5 or number 6. This is the reason why he got to play less balls. That's why Sanjay Manjrekar said that if De Villiers had batted higher, his figures could have been better.
