Delhi: Pakistan cricket team's young opening batsman Saim Ayyub recently suffered an ankle injury, due to which there is doubt about his playing in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has given a statement on Ayub's injury. He said that the PCB is alert about Syme's injury and is giving priority to the player's long career. Naqvi clarified that if Ayub was not fully fit, he could be kept out of the Champions Trophy.
Mohsin Naqvi, 46, said, “I am personally keeping an eye on Saim Ayyub's fitness. He is currently undergoing rehab and his plaster will be removed in 1-2 days. After this his recovery will begin, which will take time. I can't risk his future for one tournament. He is an important player for us, and I hope he returns to the field soon.” It is noteworthy that the left-handed batsman was injured in the second test match against South Africa.
The ICC Champions Trophy will start from February 19, in which host Pakistan will face New Zealand in the first match. India, led by Rohit Sharma, will begin their campaign against Bangladesh on February 20. After this, the teams of India and Pakistan will face each other on 22 February. India will play its last group stage match against New Zealand on March 2.
