Manchester City vs Chelsea, Premier League 2024-25: Manchester City registered a remarkable victory over Chelsea by 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium in the ongoing Premier League 2024-25 season on Saturday.

This was Man City's 12th win of the season as the defending champions entered the top 4 and are alive in the title race. They are placed 4th (41 points), only behind Liverpool (1st with 53 points), Arsenal (2nd with 47 points) and Nottingham Forest (3rd with 44 points).

This was a remarkable comeback from City as they managed to recover from a nightmare start to Abdukodir Khusanov's debut as he gifted the visitors the opening goal, scored by Noni Madueke.

Missing out on multiple scoring chances didn't go well for the visitors as Madueke's goal was the only success they witnessed in the all-important contest.

A minute later Uzbekistan international Khusanov was booked for a challenge on Cole Palmer and after struggling to find his feet in English football was eventually replaced early in the second half by John Stones.

Josko Gvardiol levelled for Pep Guardiola's men before star striker Erling Haaland showed his blend of strength and skill to chip in 22 minutes from time.

Haaland then turned provider, expertly holding the ball up near the halfway line before releasing Phil Foden, who galloped through the centre and slotted it past Sanchez to wrap up the three points.

"When we had the start like we did it is difficult, but we played really well and we kept on going and kept on going," Haaland said after the match.

"We kept pushing and the second half was the same. In the end, it is what we need to do. We need to lock it in the back and keep going attacking-wise."

Fellow new signing Omar Marmoush fared better up front as he too made his debut. The Egypt striker caused plenty of trouble for the Chelsea back line in the opening 45 minutes, and his industry up front helped peg the visitors back.

Talking about Chelsea, Enzo Maresca's side has won just one in their last seven Premier League matches. They slipped to sixth position in the Premier League points table with seventh defeat of the season.

In the other Premier League matches, table toppers Liverpool thrashed Ipswich Town 4-1 whereas Arsenal clinched a thrilling 1-0 win over Wolves.

Bournemouth outclassed Nottingham Forest 5-0 while Newcastle United defeated Southampton 3-1. Everton managed a 1-0 victory over ninth-placed Brighton.
