Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir registered their biggest win in the history of Ranji Trophy when they surprised everyone by defeating a strong team like Mumbai. Chasing the target of 205 runs, Jammu and Kashmir won the third day's play by losing just five wickets.

Shubham Khajuria (45), Vivarant Sharma (38), Abid Mushtaq (32*), Abdul Samad and Yawar Hasan (24) performed well with the bat.

All senior players failed

Mumbai team included six Indian players, but except Shardul Thakur, the rest of the players could not leave any significant impact. Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dubey and Shardul Thakur played in this match. But, defending champion Mumbai could score only 120 and 290 runs.

Great victory of Jammu and Kashmir

On the other hand, Jammu and Kashmir team, which is considered weak in domestic cricket, defeated Ajinkya Rahane's team by scoring 206 and 207/5 runs.

Yudhveer Singh (7 wickets), Umar Nazir Mir (6 wickets) and Auqib Nabi (6 wickets) played important roles in this memorable victory.

While chasing 205 runs, Jammu and Kashmir team was looking strong at 112/1 at one time, but faltered till 159/5. After this, the pair of Abid Mushtaq and Kanhaiya Wadhawan made a brilliant partnership and led the team to victory.

Shams Mulani of Mumbai took four wickets, but his efforts could not save the team from defeat.
