The star-studded Mumbai team was handed a painful 5-wicket defeat by Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy. The team consisting of star players like Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane and Shivam Dube was comprehensively defeated by J&K, who looked to be in a comfortable position throughout the match.

Carried by a century from Shardul Thakur and a valiant fifty from Tanush Kotian, Mumbai posted a decent total of 290 runs on the board in their second innings, setting up a target of 205 runs for J&K.

It looked like Mumbai did have a chance to triumph in the match, however decent knocks from Shubham Khajuria (45), Vivrant Sharma (38) and Abid Mushtaq (32*) led J&K to easily chase the target on the third day of the match.

Notably, Rohit Sharma continued his batting woes in the match as well and only managed to score 3 and 28 in the first and second innings respectively.

Alongside Rohit, batters Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer, who were both recently picked in India's 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy, also failed to make an impact on the match and were dismissed cheaply in both the innings.
