Age is just a number, they say. 40-year-old Paras Dogra proved it once again with an electrifying display of fielding on Day 2 of Jammu and Kashmir's Ranji Trophy match against Mumbai at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai.

After making some sensational moves on the field as the skipper of the Jammu and Kashmir side, Paras flew to his left to take a stunning catch, dismissing Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane in the second session on Friday, 24 January.

Paras Dogra was fielding at mid-on when Ajinkya Rahane faced tall fast bowler Umar Nazir Mir in the 27th over. Rahane chipped a fuller delivery into a vacant area through the covers, but Paras reacted swiftly, executing a full-length dive to grab the ball one-handed.

His teammates and the on-air commentators were in awe as Paras Dogra completed the spectacular catch, providing Jammu and Kashmir with a crucial breakthrough. Ajinkya Rahane, who was beginning to settle, was dismissed for 16 after facing 36 deliveries.

Two overs earlier, Ajinkya Rahane was caught down the leg-side after he got a faint edge to a delivery from Umar. Confusion prevailed as Rahane was back in the pavilion. However, he was called back after the on-field umpires heard that the Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler had bowled a no-ball.

Mumbai slipped to 91 for 6 in their second innings, having taken a narrow five-run lead before losing their captain. It was a disappointing batting performance from the home side in both innings of the four-day first-class match.

Jammu and Kashmir dominated the proceedings from the opening day of the Group A encounter. Mumbai won the toss and opted to bat, but they were bundled out for just 120.

All eyes were on India captain Rohit Sharma, who was playing his first domestic match in nine years. The opening batter was dismissed for just 3 in the first innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal, returning to red-ball cricket, managed only 4, while Rahane was dismissed for 12.

Shardul Thakur provided some resistance in Mumbai's first innings, scoring a crucial fifty and helping them cross the 100-run mark.

Jammu and Kashmir pacers Umar Nazir and Yudhvir Singh shone with four wickets each, while Auqib Nabi chipped in with two.

In the second innings, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 54 runs for the opening partnership. Rohit struck three sixes and two boundaries before being dismissed by Yudhvir Singh. However, his wicket triggered a collapse, as Mumbai crumbled from 54 for 1 to 101 for 7 on Friday.
