A lot of drama was seen on the second day of the ongoing Ranji Trophy match between Mumbai and Jammu and Kashmir. During the match, there was a dispute regarding the catch of Shreyas Iyer. Iyer was batting after scoring 17 runs, when an appeal for catch out was made on the ball of bowler Aaqib Nabi. The chief umpire present on the field agreed to the players' demand and signaled out. Iyer became very angry with this and instead of returning to the pavilion, he started arguing with the umpire on the field itself. After this, captain Ajinkya Rahane, who was on non-strike, also expressed his displeasure. But the decision did not change and Iyer had to return.

Didn't work out even with Rahane

The ball of Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler Aaqib Nabi took an edge from Shreyas Iyer's bat and went to wicketkeeper Kanhaiya Wadhawan. He dived and caught it. But Iyer believed that the catch was not taken properly. Therefore, he was not ready to return despite the umpire giving him out. Then Rahane had to intervene in this matter. He also expressed his displeasure and talked to on-field umpire S Ravi about the catch. But despite a long discussion, the umpire was not ready to accept his words and maintained his decision. After this Iyer angrily walked towards the dressing room.

The drama regarding catching had happened once before in the match being played between Jammu and Kashmir and Mumbai. That time also the batsman was Iyer and the umpire was S Ravi. In fact, in the second innings itself, when Iyer was batting after scoring 8 runs, the wicketkeeper had appealed for catch out against him. The players of Jammu and Kashmir including the bowlers were confident of getting the edge. But despite strong appeal the umpire did not give out. After this the players looked quite angry.

Flop show of Mumbai batsmen

Even in the second innings of the match, the star batsmen present in the Mumbai team were having a flop show. In the second innings, Indian team captain Rohit Sharma was out after scoring only 28 runs. Whereas Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 26 runs, Ajinkya Rahane scored 16 and Shivam Dubey returned to the pavilion on 0. In the first innings, Rohit scored 3 runs, Yashasvi scored 4 runs, Rahane scored 12 runs, Iyer scored 11 runs and Shivam Dubey was out without opening the account.
