On Sunday, doubleheaders were played in IPL 2024, with KKR facing LSG and MI taking on CSK. KKR chose to bowl first after winning the toss in the first match at Eden Gardens. LSG managed to score 161/7, with Nicholas Pooran top-scoring.

In the evening game at Wankhede Stadium, CSK defeated MI by 20 runs. CSK, batting first, posted 206 runs, with Ruturaj Gaikwad scoring 69 and MS Dhoni’s quick cameo of 20 runs in 4 balls. Matheesha Pathirana took 4-28 for CSK. Despite a century by Rohit Sharma, MI could only manage 186 runs. CSK’s victory moved them to second place in the points table, while MI dropped to eighth.

Updated Purple Cap Table after MI vs CSK Clash

Indian spin wizard Yuzvendra Chahal is at the purple cap holder after the MI vs CSK clash. He has 11 wickets with a miser economy of 7.40. MI spearhead Jasprit Bumrah had the chance to overtake Chahal, but he went wicketless yesterday against CSK.

Bangladesh left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman picked up one wicket in the MI vs CSK clash and has now risen to the third spot with 10 wickets. Bumrah and Mustafizur have the same wickets, but the MI pacer has a better average and is hence above Fizz.

Gerald Coetzee picked one wicket and now has nine wickets to his name. Matheesha Pathirana had a very successful outing. The Sri Lankan bowled a match-winning spell of 4-28. He has eight wickets in just three games and is ranked eighth.
