Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh due to a hamstring injury sustained during the series against Afghanistan recently.

It was expected that Nissanka would be fit for the series but it did not turn out likewise and Avishka Fernando replaced him in the squad.

Sri Lanka will be without their skipper and star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga for the first two matches of the series owing to the ICC suspension for openly criticising the umpiring in the final T20I against Afghanistan. In Hasaranga's absence, Charith Asalanka will lead the island nation until the former returns for the third T20I.

Additionally, legspinner Jeffrey Vandersay, who last participated in a T20I in February 2022, has been called up as the extra member in the 17-man squad. The rest of the squad remains the same that featured in the T20I series against Afghanistan.
