England pacer Jofra Archer made a bizarre claim and said that India was lucky to get the win in the first T20I in Kolkata on January 22. Archer picked up 2 wickets during the match for England in what was a forgettable outing for the visitors at the Eden Gardens.

Chasing just a paltry 132 on the iconic ground, India made quick work to wrap up the game with 43 balls and 7 wickets remaining.

Archer ended with figures of 2 for 21 in his 4 overs as . Speaking after the game, the pacer said that the conditions were suiting him better at the end of the day and claimed that the Indian batters were lucky in the end to see a couple of balls land safely after being lofted in the air.

"I guess the conditions just favoured me a little bit more than the other bowlers. The other bowlers bowled well, but the batters were extremely lucky. A few balls, well a lot of balls, went up in the air but didn't go to hand and probably next game they all go to hand and they're 40 for six," said Archer.

Apart from a dropped catch of Abhishek Sharma and a tough chance to dismiss Tilak Verma, there were not a lot of chances that were provided by the Indian batters in the end.

'Important to keep the head up'

Archer said that it was to important to keep their heads up as such losses can happen in India when the batters are going hard from the get-go.

"It's just important to keep the head up, this happens a lot in India, especially in the IPL. The batters go hard, the bowlers go hard and we were just on the unlucky side of it."

When asked if England did have a chance of winning the match at the Eden Gardens, Archer felt that they could have been in the mix with a few early wickets.

"Yeah, you've always got to try in the beginning, because if you get them three or four down in the power play then usually teams bat differently in the middle."

"The only way you're going to know is if you try. We gave it a try, it didn't work, so we will try again next game," said Archer.
The second T20I between India and England will take place on January 25 in Chennai.
