BCCI, the organization that runs cricket in India, wants all the players to give importance to domestic cricket. The board recently made strict rules for this. But now because of IPL, the biggest source of income for BCCI, a Ranji Trophy match had to be shifted from its original venue to another stadium. Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has taken this decision to prepare the pitch for IPL. The surprising thing is that no first class match has been held at the shifted venue for 13 years.
The matches of IPL 2025 will start from March 21. However, there are still 2 months left for this tournament. But its preparations have already started. Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur is the home ground of IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals. It is also the home ground of Rajasthan in Ranji Trophy. But at present, attention has been given to the IPL team.
Rajasthan was to play the match against Vidarbha from 23 to 26 January. But according to the report of Indian Express, the work of cutting IPL grass has started in the stadium. Therefore, RCA shifted the Ranji Trophy match to KL Saini Stadium outside the city. Let us tell you that no first class match has been played in this stadium since 2012.
RCA sources have disclosed the entire matter regarding this matter on the condition of anonymity. According to him, every year the state celebrates Republic Day on January 26 at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur. This time also all preparations had been made. At the same time, the last day of the match between Rajasthan and Vidarbha to be held from 23 to 26 January was falling on Republic Day.
So he decided to shift it. But a week ago the state government decided this time that Republic Day would be celebrated in Udaipur and not in Jaipur. Meanwhile, preparations for the pitch for IPL had started. This is the reason why RCA maintained its decision of not holding Ranji matches here.
