In the match against Uttarakhand, Gujarat's left arm spinner Siddharth Desai gave a spectacular performance and took 9 wickets in a single innings and showed his talent to the world. Not only this, he also broke a big record. In fact, in the history of Gujarat first class cricket, Siddharth has now become the bowler taking the most wickets in a single innings.

Broke 65 years old record

Siddharth Desai bowled lethally in the match between Uttarakhand and Gujarat that started on Thursday 23 January. He single-handedly killed 9 batsmen from the opener. In this ongoing match in Ahmedabad, he took 9 wickets for just 36 runs in 15 overs. With this he broke the 65 year old record.

In fact, in the 1960-61 Ranji Trophy season, Jasubhai Motibhai Patel from Gujarat took 8 wickets for 21 runs in the same innings against Saurashtra. In the 2012 season, he equaled his result by taking 8 wickets for 31 runs. Now Siddharth has become the best performing bowler in first class for Gujarat in an innings by taking one wicket more than both of them.

Uttarakhand team collapsed for 111 runs

Uttarakhand team won the toss and decided to bat first. But its batsmen had no answer on the turning pitch of Ahmedabad. Gujarat captain Chintan Gaja had brought left arm spinner Siddharth Desai into the attack in the beginning. They got benefit from this. Siddharth gave the first blow to Uttarakhand on the score of just 15 in the 5th over. On his very next ball he dismissed another batsman. Then took another victim on the last ball.

That is, by taking 3 wickets in a single over, Siddharth forced Uttarakhand to kneel. After this no major partnership could flourish. Siddharth kept hunting continuously from one end and sent 9 batsmen to the pavilion till the score of 110 runs. But missed the last wicket, which was taken by Vishal Jaiswal.
