MS Dhoni is not slowing down despite his knee issues. The veteran was again limping after the game between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. He also feels uncomfortable when coming out of the team bus. He underwent a knife after the previous season of the IPL, but it seems the recovery hasn’t been up to the mark.
Keeping the concern aside, he batted in the last over of the contest against the Hardik Pandya-led team. He slammed the MI captain for three consecutive sixes and scored an unban 20 runs off 4 balls to the team’s total to 206/4 in 20 overs.
CSK won the contest by 20 runs to register their fourth win in IPL 2024. Ambati Rayudu, who has played with both franchises, was pleased to see his favourite cricketer among the runs. He made a big statement on Dhoni’s retirement from IPL.
“He is batting with full flavour, and I haven’t seen him keep wickets so well in the last five years. He has been excellent behind the stumps and is giving good results. I am amazed to see his body movement. Dhoni Bhai also runs well between the wickets while taking singles and doubles. I feel he should continue playing in the Indian Premier League for another five years. He can easily last long in the tournament for that priod of time,” he said on Star Sports.
Chennai’s leading scorers were Ruturaj Gaikwad (69 off 40) and Shivam Dube (66 off 38). Chasing 207, Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 105 for Mumbai, but the five-time champions failed to cross the finishing line. Matheesha Pathirana took four wickets.
