WPL 2024: MUM-W vs UP-W, Match 6 – Latest WPL 2024 Points Table, Highest Run Scorers, and Wicket-Takers
Mumbai Indians (MUM-W) and
UP Warriorz (UPW) locked horns in the sixth match of the ongoing
Women's Premier League (WPL) at the
M Chinnaswamy Stadium in
Bengaluru on Wednesday, February 28.
After being put to bat first, Mumbai Indians openers Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia made a 50-run stand before the latter was dismissed by Grace Harris for 26 runs. Matthews went on to score 55 off 47 deliveries before being removed by
Rajeshwari Gayakwad. All other batters struggled in front of UP's bowling attack but they managed to score 161 runs in 20 overs.
In reply, captain Alyssa Healy and Kiran Navgire formed a formidable 94-run opening partnership. Navgire scored 57 off just 31 deliveries before Amelia Kerr dismissed her in the tenth over. In the very next over, Issy Wong then struck twice, dismissing Tahlia McGrath and Healy, providing a sigh of hope for the defending champions.
However, Grace Harris (38*) and Deepti Sharma (27*) remained unbeaten as they chased down the target in 16.3 overs, sealing a convincing seven-wicket win over Mumbai.
Following this match, Mumbai are currently second in the WPL 2024 points table while UP Warriorz are in the fourth position.
The next match in WPL 2024 is going to be played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals on Thursday, February 29.
