Pakistan's star batsman Babar Azam, like India's legendary batsman Virat Kohli, has been struggling with poor form for the last several months. Babar has not been seen in his old form for a long time. Another recent example of this comes from ICC's latest test batting rankings. Babar Azam has suffered a big setback in the Test batting rankings. In this matter he has had to lag behind his own countryman Saud Shakeel. Saud Shakeel has made it to the top-10 by defeating Babar.
Pakistan's young batsman Saud Shakeel was earlier ranked 11th in the ICC Test batting rankings. However, now he has taken entry in the top-10. Shakeel, who is at number eight, is the only Pakistani batsman included in the top 10. He has 753 rating points. Recently, he played an inning of 86 runs in the Multan Test against West Indies, for which ICC has now rewarded him.
On the other hand, Pakistan's star batsman Babar Azam is also missing from the top-15 list. Babar Azam was earlier at number 12 but now he has come at number 16. He currently has 668. Babar has been seen struggling in Tests for a long time. He has not scored a century in Test cricket since 2023. Not only this, from 2022 onwards it took almost two years for Babar to score a half century in Tests.
There are two players each from India, England and Australia in the top-10 list. And one batsman each from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and South Africa is included. England's legendary batsman Joe Root has once again shown dominance in the Test batting rankings. Like before, Root is at the top, he has 895 rating points. Harry Brook of England is at second place, he has 876 rating points. New Zealand's Kane Williamson is third with 867 points, India's Yashasvi Jaiswal is fourth with 847 points and Australia's Travis Head is fifth with 772 points. After this, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma is at sixth place, Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis is at seventh place, Saud Shakeel is at eighth place, Australia's Steve Smith is at ninth place and India's wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant is at tenth place.
