Team India defeated England badly in the very first match of the T20 series. Batting first, England scored only 132 runs which proved to be very less for Team India. India won this match in just 12.5 overs. Abhishek Sharma batted brilliantly and gave Team India a 1-0 lead in the T20 series. Abhishek Sharma scored 79 runs in just 34 balls, in which 8 sixes and 5 fours came from his bat. Abhishek Sharma scored a half-century in just 20 balls, which is the fastest fifty of his T20 International career in India.
Before Abhishek Sharma, the bowlers showed their strength. Especially Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakraborty bowled amazingly. Arshdeep Singh took 2 wickets for just 17 runs in 4 overs. Varun Chakraborty took 3 wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs. Hardik Pandya and Akshar Patel also bowled well and took 2-2 wickets. Only Jos Buttler performed well for England, he scored 68 runs. However, this performance did not yield much benefit as England could reach only 132 runs. Team India won the match by 43 balls, which is its biggest win against England in terms of balls.
Abhishek Sharma showed no mercy to the England bowlers on the Pata pitch of Kolkata. This player started the innings with sixes and fours off the ball of Joffra Archer and then this player badly classed Mark Wood, Adil Rashid, Gus Atkinson.
