ICC Reminds BCCI of Rules Amid Rigid Stance to Not Wear Pakistan-Written Kits

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has on their Champions Trophy kits.

The BCCI's rigid stance has left the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) livid. If Team India indeed wears jerseys without the host's name written on them, it would be a major insult to the PCB.

To avoid this , the PCB turned to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to ensure that some sense prevailed in the Indian cricket board.

The global cricket governing body has issued a subtle warning to the world's richest cricket body, reminding them of the official rules every participating team must follow.

According to Pakistani media, the ICC has firmly rejected reports that the BCCI has decided not to imprint Pakistan's name on its tournament kits. The ICC has made it clear that every team has to have the tournament's logo along with the host country's name on their jerseys.

Any team found flouting ICC's official guidelines could force the ICC to initiate strict action against the team.

"It is the responsibility of every team to add the tournament logo to their jerseys. All teams are obligated to comply with this rule," the Pakistani website A-Sports quoted an ICC official as saying.

When the 2021 T20 World Cup was moved to the UAE from India due to the coronavirus pandemic, all teams, including Pakistan, wore kits with original host India's name imprinted.

When Pakistan visited India for the 2023 ODI World Cup, their kits also had India written on them.

Even though the , with Team India playing its matches in Dubai, the hosting rights remain with Pakistan.
