Maharashtra named their squad for their upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25 clash against Baroda to be held from Thursday, January 23 at the Golf Club Ground in Nasik.
Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead them in their penultimate match of the championship.
Maharashtra haven't had the best of outings in the first-class tournament, languishing at seventh in Elite Group A with eight points and a net run rate of +0.535. Barring their 10-wicket win over Meghalaya at the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Ground, Maharashtra lost to Mumbai, Services and Odisha.
Their other match against Jammu & Kashmir back in October ended in a draw. Their last and final group stage against Tripura starts on Thursday, January 30 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Park Maidan, Solapur.
Ankit Bawne is their top run-scorer in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, having scored 361 runs from five games at an average of 51.57 and a strike-rate of 60.46 with a hundred and two fifties to his name. Bawne is in good form after he scored three fifties on the trot against Vidarbha, Punjab and Railways in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Left-arm spinner Hitesh Walunj is their top wicket-taker. In five matches, he has picked up 22 wickets at an economy rate of 2.99 with two five-wicket hauls to his name. In their upcoming match, Maharashtra will be looking to gain some momentum with a victory over Baroda, who are on top of Elite Group A with 27 points.
