Veteran South African cricketer AB de Villiers played his last international match in April 2018. His last professional match was played in IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2021. AB de Villiers recently hinted at his comeback on the Running Between the Wickets podcast. During this time he expressed his desire to play cricket again. However, it has not been confirmed when he will return to the field. De Villiers said, 'I can play cricket soon. However, nothing has been decided yet. During this, he also made it clear that now he does not want to play international or any professional cricket. That means he will not play for South Africa or in the IPL. He said, 'I am not talking about RCB or South Africa tour or any serious game. I want to play somewhere where I can enjoy.

The biggest reason behind De Villiers playing cricket again is his children. He told that he is thinking like this due to pressure from his children. De Villiers revealed that he will soon go to the nets to practice and see whether he is fit to play or not. According to him, vision is blurred in one eye but the other eye is absolutely fine. If he is successful in playing properly in front of the bowling machine then he will decide about the future. He wants his children and the entire family to be able to watch him play and enjoy the game.
De Villiers played 114 test matches in his international career, in which he scored 8765 runs at an average of 50.66. During this period he had scored 22 centuries and 46 half-centuries. In 228 ODI matches, he was successful in scoring 9577 runs at an average of 53.50, which included 25 centuries and 53 half-centuries. Apart from this, he also played 78 T20 Internationals, in which he scored 1672 runs at an average of 26.12 and strike rate of 135. Talking about IPL, De Villiers scored 5162 runs in 184 matches of this tournament at an average of 39.71 and strike rate of 151. During this period he scored 3 centuries and 40 half-centuries. De Villiers played for Delhi team in the first 3 seasons of IPL, after that he went to Royal Challengers Bangalore and remained associated with it till the end.
