The countdown for Champions Trophy 2025 has started. This tournament to be hosted by Pakistan will start from 19th February. Recently there was a lot of conflict between India and Pakistan regarding the Champions Trophy. Actually, BCCI had refused to send its team to Pakistan. At the same time, PCB was adamant on holding the entire tournament in Pakistan. However, after several meetings, it was decided to conduct the Champions Trophy on a hybrid model. Team India will now play all its matches in Dubai. But now another controversy has come to light.
Actually, the Indian team has refused to get Pakistan's name written on its jersey for the Champions Trophy. Generally, the name of the country that hosts the tournament is on the jerseys of all the teams. While talking to news agency IANS, an official of Pakistan Cricket Board has accused BCCI of refusing to print Pakistan's name on Team India's jersey. The PCB official also said that we are confident that ICC will not allow this to happen and will support Pakistan. That means PCB can take this issue to ICC.
There is less than a month left for the start of the Champions Trophy. But no statement has come out from BCCI yet on this controversy. If BCCI has decided not to write Pakistan's name on Team India's jersey, then ICC may have to take action. At present Jay Shah is the President of ICC. He took over as ICC Chairman on December 1, 2024. In such a situation, only Jay Shah will take the final decision on this issue. If this step of BCCI is against the rules, then Jay Shah may have to take action.
According to ICC rules, in all the tournaments which are being held under the ICC banner, it is mandatory for all the teams participating in them to write the name of the host country and the year of the tournament along with the name of the tournament on the right side of their chest. Is. India was the host of the 2021 T20 World Cup, but due to Corona, the entire tournament was played in UAE. Then some photos of the photoshoot of Pakistani players went viral, in which the name of host India was missing. Even then there was a lot of uproar. However, the name of India was written on the jersey worn by Pakistan during the tournament.
