After recently being named as the skipper for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant revealed the one franchise that he didn't want to join and it was none other than the Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Pant was released by the Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of the mega auction and went on to become the most expensive player in the league's history after getting bought by LSG for a whopping fee of INR 27 crore.

Pant revealed that he was relieved when the PBKS acquired the services of Shreyas Iyer for a massive fee of INR 26.75 crore as he was certain that the Punjab-based franchise wouldn't be going after him.

'From inside, I had only one tension. That was Punjab. Their budget was so high that if you wanted, you could not do anything. They had 112 crore, the second highest was Rs. 82 crore. When Shreyas joined Punjab, I was relieved that I can join LSG now,' Pant said in a interaction on Star Sports.

A bidding war broke out between LSG and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for Pant before the Sunrisers Hyderabad also entered the fray. DC would try to snap the player up by using their 'Right to Match' card, however they weren't able to match the value that LSG put up for Pant.
