The much-awaited five-match T20 International series between India and England kicks off on January 22 at Kolkata's Eden Gardens.
With Suryakumar Yadav leading the side, the "Men in Blue" are set to field a strong lineup featuring a mix of experienced players and emerging talent.
Ahead of IND vs ENG 1st T20I, have a look at India's probable playing XI.
Likely Opening Pair
Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma are expected to open the innings. Samson, who dazzled with two centuries during the recent T20 series in South Africa, is in sublime form. His aggressive batting will complement Abhishek Sharma, who has also impressed with his consistency and ability to score runs at a quick pace.
Middle Order Powerhouse
At number three, stylish player Tilak Varma is likely to continue his fine form after smashing a quick century in South Africa. Skipper Suryakumar Yadav will take the number four slot, where his innovative strokeplay can set the tone for the innings.
The lower middle order is packed with firepower. Premier all-rounder Hardik Pandya, a proven match-winner, will provide stability and explosiveness. He'll be supported by Rinku Singh, who has shown exceptional finishing abilities, and young Nitish Kumar Reddy, an exciting prospect. All-rounder Axar Patel adds depth to the lineup with his batting and bowling.
Bowling Combination
In the spin department, all-rounder Axar Patel will pair up with Varun Chakravarthy, whose knack for troubling batters with his mystery spin makes him a key asset.
The pace attack will be spearheaded by veteran Mohammed Shami, with Arshdeep Singh providing left-arm variety. Shami will be playing for the Indian team for the first time since his injury in ODI World Cup. Together, they form a formidable combination capable of handling England's aggressive batting lineup.
India's Probable Playing XI: Sanju Samson (wk), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav (c), Hardik Pandya, Rinku Singh, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami, Varun Chakravarthy.
