Both the families got married as per Haryanvi customs. Both the families had decided to keep the marriage a secret. Neeraj's uncle told that during the marriage he lived those moments which he could never even imagine. The men of the family wore kurta, dhoti and khandaka. Uncle told that Neeraj's family had already told Himani's family that they would not take any dowry in the marriage, hence the marriage ceremony was completed for just one rupee.

Wedding preparations were going on for a long time

Neeraj Chopra's second uncle Bhim Chopra told that Neeraj and Himani know each other for the last two years. Both of them met each other through friends. Not only this, preparations for the marriage of Neeraj and Himani were going on for the last several months. Bhim Chopra told, 'Only the members of both the families knew about Neeraj's marriage. Neeraj wanted that no one should know about his marriage. After marriage, both have gone out of the country. Neeraj and Himani's marriage did not take place in Panipat. Both of them were married in Himachal.
