While Indian batsmen KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Kumar Reddy impressed everyone with their batting in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, this feat was done by Australia's ace batsman Travis Head. Head was the highest run scorer in the India vs Australia Test series. He had created history in this series and now preparations are underway to give him a special reward for this. Australia can hand over the command of the team to Travis Head for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour.
31-year-old Travis Head has proved himself in every format. He has become one of the key players of the Australian team. Now there are reports that Head can be made the captain of the Test team for the Sri Lanka tour. This decision can be taken due to the non-availability of regular captain Pat Cummins for this tour and the injury of Steve Smith. Pat Cummins is on leave due to becoming a father for the second time. For this reason, Steve Smith was made the captain of the Test team, but in the Big Bash League, Steve Smith was seen struggling with his old elbow injury. There is still suspense over his playing. If he does not recover quickly then the responsibility of captaincy can be handed over to the head.
Travis Head scores runs in every format for Australia. His bat also flourished in the five-match Border Gavaskar Trophy against India. He had scored 448 runs in nine innings of five matches with the help of two centuries and one fifty. Head played a brilliant inning of 140 runs in Adelaide and 152 runs in the Gabba Test. He hit 52 fours and four sixes. Head's average was more than 56 and strike rate was 92.56.
The Australian team is currently in Dubai before playing a two-Test series at home to Sri Lanka. After the five-day camp, the Kangaroo team will leave for Sri Lanka. The first test will be held from 29 January and the second test from 6 February. Both matches will be played at Galle International Stadium.
