India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, appeared visibly frustrated when asked about the BCCI’s alleged new set of rules during the press conference for the announcement of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy squad in Mumbai on Saturday, January 18. The 37-year-old sharply responded to the reporter, questioning whether the rules had been officially released on the BCCI’s website.

His comments came just days after reports emerged that the cricket board had imposed a strict ten-point guideline on the Indian team following their 3-1 defeat to Australia in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

“Who has shared this information about the rules with you? Has it been released from the official channels? Once it’s official, we can discuss it.

“”I think every team has its own set of regulations. We’ve discussed various aspects, and over the last few months, we’ve recognized the need for some changes and increased bonding within the team,” he said.

“It’s not about being in a school or facing punishment. We have certain rules, and when you’re representing the national team, you adhere to them. These aren’t school kids; these are superstars who know how to conduct themselves. However, at the end of the day, you’re playing for your country, so it’s essential to follow some guidelines. There are numerous rules in place, and they will continue to be refined,” he added.
