Lucknow Super Giants team has made a squad of 24 players for IPL 2025. LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka had spent a lot of money during the mega auction to buy these players. However, he has not yet announced the new captain of this team. But now this wait of the fans is about to end, because Sanjeev Goenka is soon going to reveal the name of the team leader. For this, he is going to hold a special press conference, the date of which has been revealed. Now the question is whether after KL Rahul's departure, he will hand over the command to Rishabh Pant or someone else will take his place.

Captain will be announced on this day

According to the report, Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjeev Goenka will hold a special press conference on Monday, January 20. During this, he will reveal the name of the player who will lead the team in IPL 2025. He had spent Rs 27 crore for Pant in the mega auction. It is believed that Pant can replace KL Rahul. Only he can be given the command of the team. Before this, he has also captained Delhi Capitals. That's why he is considered the biggest contender.

However, Nicholas Puran is also a contender for this post. There were also reports of him being made captain. LSG has retained Puran for IPL 2025 by paying the highest amount of Rs 18 crore. Not only this, he was also the vice captain of the team in the last season. Apart from this, he has experience of captaining West Indies in international matches. He has also captained the Caribbean Premier League. That means there is a claim for captaincy between Pant and Puran. But it remains to be seen who the team owners choose among the two players.
