Delhi: The next round of Ranji Trophy is starting from 23 January 2025, in which big players like Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja and Shubman Gill will be seen playing. But, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul will not be a part of it.
Reason for Virat's absence
Virat Kohli is not playing in this round due to neck injury. It is being told that he had sprained his neck after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He was given an injection to reduce the pain on January 8, but till now he has not got complete relief.
KL Rahul will also be out
Apart from Virat, KL Rahul will also not play in this round. This Karnataka batsman had to be out due to elbow injury. Rahul has faced many injuries in the last year and he will now focus on rehab so that he can play in the upcoming international series.
BCCI's new policy
BCCI has recently implemented a new policy, according to which all players are required to participate in domestic cricket to be selected for the national team. However, if a player has an injury or other special circumstances, permission has to be taken from the selection committee.
Keeping in mind the upcoming Champions Trophy, the selectors would like Kohli and Rahul to be in their best form and make a strong comeback in international cricket.
