Amidst the uproar in Indian cricket, some players are continuously in the headlines. Apart from coach Gautam Gambhir, many things are being said about stalwarts like captain Rohit Sharma and senior batsman Virat Kohli. After the team's bad defeat on the Australia tour, the discussion is more about the ongoing turmoil within the team than this defeat. Amidst all this, young batsman Sarfaraz Khan has also been accused of leaking information inside the team to the media. But now it is being claimed that not only Sarfaraz, but a member of coach Gambhir's support staff has also been accused of leaking news.
Before the Sydney Test match on the Australia tour, a newspaper report talked about the commotion and tension going on inside the dressing room of Team India. It was told in the report that after Team India's defeat in the Melbourne Test match, coach Gautam Gambhir had expressed his displeasure with all the players. It was also claimed that many players in the team are staking claim for the captaincy and differences are also arising between the coach and the captain. Besides, talks are also going on between the Chief Selector and Coach Gambhir. Since then there has been continuous uproar.
After this, after Team India returned from Australia, a review meeting was held by BCCI, in which apart from the board officials, coach, captain and chief selector Ajit Agarkar were also present. Recently, a report claimed that the issue of leak came up in the dressing room during this meeting and during this, coach Gambhir had taken the name of young batsman Sarfaraz Khan and accused him of leaking news. There has been an uproar over this since then, but now another report has claimed that not only the player, but also a member of the coaching staff was named in it and he was also accused of leaking the news.
However, the name of the support staff member has not been mentioned in the report. Gambhir's support staff includes Abhishek Nair, Morne Morkel, Ryan Ten Deschate and T Dilip, out of which all three except Dilip have been included in the team on the recommendation of Gambhir. In such a situation, the allegation has been leveled against any one of these four. Now this report has come at a time when another coach has been included in Team India for the series against England. This coach is Sitanshu Kotak, who will join the team as batting coach.
Kotak is a coach in the National Cricket Academy and hence he has been included by BCCI. It is being claimed that Kotak has been called for this series only at the behest of Gambhir. The timing of this appointment has raised questions whether Gambhir did not trust one of his own assistant coaches. In the coaching staff, Abhishek Nair usually plays the role of batting coach, so has Kotak also come to take his place? This raises the question whether Kotak has been replaced on the basis of Nair's performance, or does the allegations made in the review meeting have any role in it? Perhaps this situation may become clear in the next few times.
