Team India for Champions Trophy 2025 will be announced on Saturday 18 January. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar and captain Rohit Sharma will unveil the squad at a press conference at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai, which will present Team India's bid for the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai in February-March. Along with the Champions Trophy, the squad will also be announced for the 3-match ODI series against England. Although the situation regarding most of the names is clear, still there are some positions for which there is maximum curiosity about the players to be selected. These include positions ranging from fast bowling to wicketkeeper.

Will Nair get a place in the England series?

The Champions Trophy is going to start from February 19 and the squad for it should have been announced by January 12, but according to reports, BCCI had made a special request to the ICC and asked for a week's time to send the team name. After which the team is going to be announced on January 18. 15 players will be selected for the Champions Trophy, but even before this tournament, Team India has to play a series against England, so some additional players can also be selected.

Despite all the criticism, controversies and recent form, Rohit Sharma's captaincy remains intact, while Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli will also retain their places. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja will also be a part of the team, while Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami are sure to play in the fast bowling department. However, the fitness that Shami shows against England in the T20 series will play a big role. Apart from these, spinner Kuldeep Yadav also seems to be fit and in such a situation, his selection is also certain.

Samson, Pant or Rahul - who will be the wicketkeeper?

The question is about the place of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, Karun Nair in batting, while there is competition between KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson for the position of wicketkeeper. Seeing Jaiswal's excellent form, there is a demand for him to be selected in the ODI team for the first time and this seems to be happening. Shreyas Iyer's recent form in domestic cricket was also strong and he also did wonders in the 2023 World Cup, so he may get priority. But will Karun Nair, who has scored 752 runs with 5 centuries in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, be able to snatch this place from him? Will the selectors give him priority? It seems difficult at the moment from the Champions Trophy point of view but he can be selected for the England series.

The claims of Rahul and Pant for the position of wicketkeeper seem to be strong. Sanju Samson had shown excellent form recently but the selection committee may not have liked him not playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and this may cost him heavily. What update the selectors give on Jasprit Bumrah's fitness in bowling is going to be most important. If Bumrah is not fit then who will get the place for the third pacer? In this there is a fight between Arshdeep Singh and Prasidh Krishna.
