Captaincy in cricket is such a responsibility which is the most difficult but still every player hopes to become the captain. With captaincy comes not only responsibility but also a status. No matter what level of cricket it is, every player wants to become the captain of his team. Especially if a player has tasted captaincy once, then it becomes even more difficult to give up this desire. Nevertheless, Team India's star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has set an example where he refused to become the captain. Yes, Pant refused to become the captain of Delhi cricket team for Ranji Trophy and the reason for this is very special.

Following the instructions of Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir and BCCI, Rishabh Pant is playing for his home team Delhi in the second phase of Ranji Trophy starting from January 23. After about 7 years, Pant will be seen playing Ranji Trophy again. In such a situation, the selection committee of Delhi wanted to give him the captaincy of the team. Not only is Pant one of the senior players of the team, but he has also captained in international cricket and IPL. He had even captained Delhi before becoming a regular player in Team India.

This is why Rishabh Pant refused captaincy

In such a situation, it is not surprising if the selection committee wants to make Pant the captain of the team for one or two matches. But Pant has denied this. According to reports, Pant clearly told the selection committee that it would not be right to make him the captain of the team for just one or two matches and they should keep Ayush Badoni as the captain because he can lead this team and its players in a better way. Know. Pant said that making him the captain could spoil the balance of the team, hence he did not agree to this responsibility.

Will Virat Kohli play?

Delhi and District Cricket Association also announced a 22-member squad for the next round of Ranji Trophy on Friday, January 17. Delhi's next match will be played against Saurashtra in Rajkot from 23 January. Not only has Pant got a place in the squad selected for this match, star batsman Virat Kohli has also been included. DDCA officials have said that Kohli has not yet given any information regarding his availability but it has been told that he had a problem in his neck during the Sydney Test, due to which he is still struggling. Nevertheless, Kohli has been included in the squad and he will soon clarify the situation regarding playing.
