India's most promising pacer Jasprit Bumrah dismissed rumours of being bedridden for the back injury he faced during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.

Team India management has delayed the selection meeting for a week as they wait for the National Cricket Academy (NCA) update regarding Bumrah's recovery.

According to a report, Bumrah was advised to bed rest at home and stay away from competitive cricket for some time however, after Bumrah reacted to the news the original post on X (formerly known as Twitter) was deleted.

Bumrah reacted to the post by saying, "I know fake news is easy to spread but this made me laugh.

Sources unreliable."

Bumrah is expected to go to NCA for rehabilitation as the initial reports said that the pacer doesn't have a fracture but has swelling on his back. NCA will be monitoring his recovery during his three-week stay.

Post that the pacer will be playing a game or two for fitness purposes, said BCCI sources.

India has missed the January 12 deadline set by the ICC for teams to announce their squads for the Champions Trophy. While six of the eight participating teams, including the hosts Pakistan, have named their squads, India is yet to do so.

The national selectors, who convened in Mumbai on Saturday to finalise the squad for the upcoming T20 series against England, were reportedly briefed on Bumrah's fitness status. Although the ICC's deadline for submitting Champions Trophy squads is Sunday, the BCCI has requested an extension.
