There is turmoil in Indian cricket after the test series defeat at the hands of New Zealand and Australia. Especially the performance of senior batsmen like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma has disappointed not only the fans but also the team management and BCCI. Coach Gautam Gambhir has openly said that every star player should also play domestic tournaments, after which questions are being raised whether Rohit and Virat will play in Ranji Trophy. Amidst all these discussions, the Indian Cricket Board has now made arrangements for 3 first class matches, which will be played in England. These matches will be played between India A and England Lions.

Team India had to lose the place in the World Test Championship final due to losing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on the Australia tour. This final is also to be played in June 2025 but Team India will not participate in it. However, he has to play his next Test match only in the month of June, when the team will tour England for a 5-Test series. Just before this tour, a 3-match series will also be played between the A teams of India and England. According to the report of ESPN-Cricinfo, this series will start after the end of the final of IPL 2025 and will continue till the start of the Test series.

The Pataudi Trophy of 5 test matches between India and England will start from June 20. This is the second important series after the Australia tour, which will be played just before the Test series. Earlier, just before the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, 3 matches were played between India A and Australia A. Some players in the squad selected for those 3 matches were also part of the Indian Test team. In such a situation, this is sure to happen even before the England tour. But the biggest question and most eyes are on whether the Indian batsmen who are going through poor form will also take part in this first class series or not?

Captain Rohit Sharma had failed miserably in Australia, due to which clouds seem to be looming over his Test career. At present, his chances of being selected for the England tour seem very slim. Kohli's tour was also not good but he is expected to be given one last chance on the England tour. In such a situation, if Kohli is selected for that tour, then it would be worth seeing whether he is also included in the A team, so that he can at least practice by playing one match before the series.
