Rising star India women's batting all rounder Pratika Rawal impressed several fans and pundits with her maiden international century on January 15. In the third ODI against Ireland, she scored 154 runs off just 129 balls laced with 20 boundaries and one maximum while opening the innings.

She also became the first player in history (male or female) to score more than 400 runs in their first six innings.

In the six ODI's she has featured in, Rawal has amassed 444 runs at an impressive average of 74. After India women were looking for a new opener as Shafali Verma's dipping had become a concern, Pratika grabbed the opportunity and produced some match-winning knocks in a span of just six games. She also shared a 233-run stand with Smriti Mandhana in the third ODI in Rajkot.

Pratika Rawal was born in Delhi on 1 September 2000. Pradeep Rawal, her father, is a BCCI-certified Level-II umpire of the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA). She did her schooling at the Modern School, situated in Barakhamba Road. She was excellent in her studies as well, securing 92.5 per cent in the CBSE board exams. She acquired a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the renowned Jesus & Mary College, in New Delhi.

"I wanted to study about that (human mind) and when I started studying about it, I was very keen on understanding how we mentally process (things) on the field and off the field. And, it has helped me a lot in cricket as well," said the Delhi cricketer in a video titled - 'Pratika Rawal: Psychology meets Cricket' posted by the BCCI Women on their 'X' handle.
