A major controversy has emerged in Indian cricket, with accusations flying about an insider leaking confidential team information during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT).
For weeks, media outlets speculated about the existence of a mysterious "Mr. Fix It" responsible for creating a disharmony in team environment. A report from The Indian Express also detailed many more issues, including Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma's rift to Gambhir's meltdown following the Melbourne Test defeat.
Sarfaraz Khan spilled all the Beans to Media?
According to a report by TV9 Bharatvarsh, Sarfaraz Khan's name has surfaced as the alleged source behind the leaks.
The report claims that during a BCCI review meeting, India head coach Gautam Gambhir identified Sarfaraz Khan as the individual leaking internal matters to the media. It was learnt that Gambhir was not happy with the Indian team and gave the players an ultimatum, while confirming the impending role of a senior player trying to prove himself as Mr. Fix-It.
The allegations have sent shockwaves through the cricketing fraternity, especially since Sarfaraz did not even play a single game during the Australian tour. The Indian head coach reportedly expressed anger over the leaks, labeling them as a betrayal of trust within the team. While TV9's report has sparked a heated debate, its authenticity remains unverified.
Virat Kohli the Mr. Fix-It?
Interestingly, earlier media reports had speculated that former India skipper Virat Kohli might be "Mr. Fix-It." It was suggested that Kohli, eager to reassume leadership as a senior player, could have been behind the revelations. However, Gambhir dismissed these rumors during a press conference, describing them as baseless and emphasizing that the team environment was healthy.
Rohit Sharma's Test Future in Doubt?
Adding to the drama, there have been whispers about Rohit Sharma's uncertain future in Test cricket. Reports suggest that Gambhir was not in favour of Sharma playing the final Test against Australia, further fueling speculation of internal rifts. However, Sharma has publicly clarified that he has no intention of retiring and confirmed that he himself stepped down from the final Test in Sydney.
