Hardik Pandya has often credited MS Dhoni for his success in international cricket and the Indian Premier League. He met the veteran cricketer before the toss in IPL 2024 match between Mumbai and and Chennai Super Kings at the Wankhede Stadium. MI new captain hugged Dhoni and the fans went berserk.

Hardik often visits Dhoni’s house in Ranchi to meet him as the legendary cricketer has retired from international cricket and only plays in the cash-rich league.
Meanwhile, Hardik retuned to Mumbai after spending two years with Gujarat Titans. He led GT to success in 2022 and the franchise reached the final in 2023.
However, Pandya was traded to MI for the 17th season and he replaced Rohit Sharma as captain. The five-time champions completely failed in the first three games.
They lost to Gujarat, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals. Hardik was lambasted and mocked by fans for becoming Mumbai’s captain. They held him responsible for Rohit’s sacking.
Despite all the criticism, Hardik took Mumbai to a win against Delhi Capitals. The second victory came against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
In the sixth game of the season against Chennai Super Kings, Pandya won the toss and elected to bowl first.
