Former Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Aamir had retired from international cricket at an early age. However, these days he is playing in the International League T20. So far he has taken two wickets in two matches. Even now the same speed and same passion is visible in his bowling which was seen earlier. He also made an important contribution in Pakistan winning the Champions Trophy against India in the year 2017. However, he surprised everyone by retiring from international cricket at a young age.
Mohammad Aamir retired from international cricket in the year 2020 at the age of 28. But in March 2024 he reversed this decision. However, he again announced his retirement in December 2024. Regarding this, he said in a recent conversation, 'Actually, look, now we have such good young players who are performing well and playing continuously. This is their time. It has been many years since I played international cricket, now it is time for the youth to take it forward.
Generally fast bowlers have to face injuries continuously. However, Aamir told that he did not face any problem regarding fitness. Aamir said, 'I never had any problem regarding fitness in white ball cricket. Sometimes yes only in longer formats (Test cricket). As a professional player, it is your duty to take care of your fitness, diet and training and we fulfill our requirements, but there is no guarantee that injuries will not occur.
Mohammad Aamir started international cricket in 2009. Later, when his name came up in fixing, he was banned from cricket from 2010 to 2015. He made a comeback again and created a stir in the Champions Trophy. Pakistan had scored 338 runs in the Champions Trophy title match against India in 2017. In reply, Team India was bundled out for 158 runs. The biggest reason for this was Aamir. He had taken the wickets of legends like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan. Rohit could not even open an account. Whereas Kohli could score only 5 runs and Dhawan could score 21 runs.
