Delhi: If Sanju Samson fails to make it to next month's Champions Trophy, the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) will be held responsible. KCA has decided not to include Sanju Samson in its team for Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Sanju Samson has been accused of being out of Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, it has now been revealed that Sanju had only talked about not participating in the preparation camp before this tournament, but he was fully prepared to join the final team. KCA decided to give a chance to the youth, due to which Sanju was ignored.
KCA Secretary Vinod S Kumar said that Sanju had expressed his desire to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy before Kerala's first match against Baroda on December 23. But by then the team had been selected. Vinod said, “At that time it was the right decision to give a chance to a young player.”
Sources close to Sanju say that he was surprised by this decision, as it was a common thing that when Sanju was not in the national team, he used to attend the Kerala camp.
Now on January 19, BCCI selectors can announce the 15-member Indian team for the Champions Trophy. Anyone among Sanju Samson, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel can get a chance in this selection.
