Former Australia wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist has lavished high praise on India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, stating that the pacer would have troubled even cricket’s greatest legend, Sir Don Bradman. Bumrah, who has been in sensational form in 2024, played a key role in India’s T20 World Cup victory and continued to dominate with his deadly bowling in Test cricket.

Bumrah’s recent performances have been nothing short of remarkable. He was named Player of the Series in the five-match Test series against Australia, finishing as the highest wicket-taker with 32 wickets. Gilchrist, speaking on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, expressed his deep admiration for Bumrah, saying, “I can’t put a number on him that truly reflects his standing in world sport. He would have torn through Bradman at his peak in just a few balls. Bradman’s average of 99 would have dropped significantly if he faced Bumrah. There’s no accolade high enough for him.”

Bumrah’s excellence was on full display in the series, starting with a Player of the Match performance in Perth where he helped India secure a dominant 295-run victory with figures of 8/72. He followed it up with a stunning nine-wicket haul in both Brisbane (9/94) and Melbourne (9/156), tormenting the Australian batting lineup.

This exceptional form saw him reach the pinnacle of ICC Test rankings for bowlers, registering the highest-ever ratings by an Indian bowler at 908.

However, Bumrah’s dream series took a tragic turn when he sustained an injury midway through the fifth Test in Sydney. After Day 1, he was compelled to stop bowling due to injury, raising concerns about his availability for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
