Ashok Sharma has said that like Mumbai cricketers play, Virat Kohli should also play domestic tournaments for Delhi. While talking to The Indian Express, DDCA Secretary said that the names of both Virat and Pant are in the list of probable players for the camp organized by the Delhi team. Whenever Virat is available, he should play for Delhi in domestic cricket. Just like the cricketers of Mumbai play.

Virat should learn from Mumbai cricketers- Ashok Sharma

Secretary Ashok Sharma said that there is such a culture in Mumbai that players play in Ranji matches whenever they are available there. The story of Latin North India, especially Delhi, is not the same. He said that now even BCCI has said that players should play domestic cricket. I believe that Virat and Pant should play at least one match. But, it doesn't seem like he will play.

Last Ranji match was played in 2012

It has been more than 10 years since Virat Kohli played in Ranji Trophy. He last played a Ranji Trophy match in 2012, i.e. when he was emerging as a star in international cricket. His performance on the Australia tour was also disappointing. After scoring a century in the second innings of the Perth Test, only 90 more runs were scored from his bat in the next 4 Tests. Meaning he had scored only 190 runs in 5 tests. Like Virat, Rohit and Gill also could not do anything special. After returning from Australia, there are reports of him playing in Ranji Trophy. But, there is no such news regarding Virat at present.

For Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant, DDCA President Rohan Jaitley has also said that if they are fit and available then they should play Ranji Trophy. He said that playing domestic cricket should be the first choice of every cricketer.
