The ICC Champions Trophy is scheduled to be played in Pakistan and UAE from February 19 to March 9. With its last edition being played in 2017, the 50-over tournament is coming back after an eight-year hiatus.

It is going to be the next big ICC event after the 2024 T20 World Cup, which was held in the West Indies and the USA.

The Champions Trophy is also called the mini-World Cup as the top eight ODI teams compete against each other in this tournament. This time, the eight participating teams of the Champions Trophy 2025 are decided according to the points table of the 2023 ODI World Cup, held in India. The teams which finished among the top eight after the league stage, have qualified for the Champions Trophy 2025, along with the hosts Pakistan.

Champions Trophy Winners List

Throughout the years, we have seen different teams winning the Champions Trophy with Australia being the most successful team with two titles in 2006 and 2009 respectively. The inaugural season of the Champions Trophy was won by South Africa in 1998, while the current champions are Pakistan, who won the last edition in 2017.

This will be the ninth edition of Champions Trophy with Pakistan hosting the tournament for the first time. However, India will play all their matches in Dubai after they decided to not travel to Pakistan. The tournament will kickstart with an inaugural match between the host Pakistan and New Zealand at Karachi National Stadium on February 19. The semi-finals will be played at Dubai International Stadium and Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on March 4 and 5 respectively, while the final is scheduled to be played in Lahore (or Dubai if India qualfies) on March 9.
