The second phase of Ranji Trophy 2024-25 is starting from 23 January. Many big players will be seen playing in this. There are not even 10 days left for it to start. Before this, Delhi batsman Anuj Rawat has made a big mistake. In fact, he left the ongoing Ranji Trophy camp in Delhi and reached Surat on January 13 to join the practice session of his IPL team Gujarat Titans. BCCI's whip may now be imposed on Anuj Rawat for leaving the Ranji team and showing sympathy towards the IPL team. BCCI had given heavy punishment to players like Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan for committing similar mistakes.
There are still more than two months left for the start of IPL. The second round of Ranji Trophy is going to start within 10 days. Anuj has a long time to practice for IPL but the countdown for the second round of Ranji Trophy has started, Delhi team's cap is going on at Arun Jaitley Stadium. The players have started preparing for the match against Saurashtra but Anuj gave preference to the IPL team instead of the Ranji team. Without informing the State Cricket Board, he went to participate in the practice session of Gujarat Titans. When DDCA secretary and state senior team selection committee convenor Ashok Sharma was questioned about this matter, he said, 'I have no information that Anuj has taken part in the ongoing Ranji Trophy camp to participate in the IPL team camp. The camp has been abandoned. Ideally, they would have to obtain permission from the state association. We have two Ranji matches left and the camp is going on in Kotla (Arun Jaitley Stadium). I don't know who gave him permission to leave the Ranji Trophy camp.
Let us tell you that if the state team camp and IPL pre-season conditioning camp are held at the same time, then in this situation the players have to take permission from the president or secretary to attend the practice session of the IPL team, however, Anuj No request received. Regarding this matter, a senior DDCA official said, 'We have received some official e-mail requests from some players seeking permission to join their respective IPL camps, but I can confirm that we have not received any permission from Anuj Rawat. No written request has been received.
According to a PTI report, top BCCI officials insist that players will have to give importance and priority to red ball cricket. Earlier, Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan had also made the same mistake as Anuj. Both the players did not give priority to domestic cricket and gave preference to IPL, then both of them were punished in the form of losing the central contract of BCCI. Now it remains to be seen what action BCCI takes against Anuj. Let us tell you that they are not part of the central contract.
