Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru player Anuj Rawat can be in trouble for skipping Ranji trophy camp for IPL pre-season preparations.

Anuj Rawat, who was roped in by Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2025, joined their pre-season camp in Surat during Delhi's own Ranji camp ahead of the resumption of the red ball tournament.

Rawat, as per reports, didn't even seek permission to join the camp from DDCA and hence can land himself in trouble ahead of the resumption of the second half of Ranji Trophy.

"Gujarat Titans have commenced their preparations for the IPL 2025 with a training camp in Surat. Players like Anuj Rawat, Ishant Sharma, Jayant Yadav, Kumar Kushagra, Mahipal Lomror and Arshad Khan have joined the team in the camp along with the coaches and support staff," a statement from Gujarat Titans read.

The former RCB player's involvement in the IPL camp has irked DDCA officials as he didn't apply for official permission. Generally, a player requires an official NOC from the association for joining an IPL camp coinciding with state team's camp, but in Rawat's case, the norms were not followed.

"I have no knowledge that Anuj has skipped the ongoing Ranji Trophy camp to attend the IPL team's camp. Ideally, he needs to take permission from the state association. We have two Ranji games left and the camp is on at the Kotla. I don't know who gave him the permission to skip the Ranji Trophy camp," DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma told PTI.

Veteran Ishant Sharma, who also plays for Delhi, joined the camp but as he doesn't feature in Ranji Trophy, Ishant wouldn't have required any prior permission. But for Rawat, the scenario is entirely different and at a time when BCCI emphasizes players to prioritize domestic cricket, the player's actions may put him in trouble.

It is to be seen if the player is sanctioned for his antics, which will be a hefty blow to his prospects this season.

The 25-year-old has played 24 IPL matches in his career and has scored 318 runs, with an average of 19.88 and a strike rate of 119. The southpaw has also struggled for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy with just 97 runs across four innings, but scored 4 half-centuries across Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare Trophy this season.
