The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has given a big setback to players like Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah. Kohli has a habit of traveling separately because of the presence of his family members on the tours. Bumrah followed the senior player during the tour of Australia, where the two stars and their family members more often traveled in a private aircraft.
However, the board officials have ended this luxury, and from now onwards, the Indian cricketers will travel together.
The duration of the presence of wives, kids, and other family members has also been reduced. According to a report by Dainik Jagran, families can stay up to two weeks on a 45-day tour and not for all the matches. The tenure of the supporting staff will be a maximum of three years.
Meanwhile, Kohli doesn’t even travel with the Indian team while departing for a tour. He left for Australia with Anushka Sharma, Vamika, and Akaay way before the team boarded the flight. He is following this routine from the days of his captaincy and, more often than not, doesn’t go with the players in the team bus.
His behavior was not liked by Anil Kumble when he was the coach of the Indian team, and the legendary cricketer wanted the touring players to travel on the bus instead of in private vehicles.
India will now take on England in five T20Is at home, with the selectors giving importance to the young cricketers. Virat and Rohit Sharma have already retired from the format while Bumrah is injured.
The two top batters will return for the ODI series against the Jos Buttler-les team before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan and Dubai.
