Team India has not been announced yet for Champions Trophy 2025 but it is certain that the command of the team will remain in the hands of Rohit Sharma. Despite the increasing pressure due to his poor form and average captaincy in the last few months, Rohit will remain the captain of the team in this tournament. Even though the captaincy is still intact, Rohit's batting form remains a matter of great concern and in view of this, he has now started preparations for the tournament. Not only this, Rohit is also going to start practicing with Mumbai's Ranji Trophy team, due to which curiosity has increased whether Rohit will also play a Ranji match before this tournament.

Rohit Sharma had flopped badly on the Australia tour and before that in the Test series against New Zealand and Bangladesh at home. Since then, speculations about his leaving the team or retiring have intensified. Rohit may have denied it now, but claims are being made that he will not return to the Test team now, while he will retire completely after the Champions Trophy.

Amidst these claims, Rohit has started preparing himself for the Champions Trophy. A report in the Indian Express has claimed that the Indian captain has already started practicing at the MCA-BKC ground in Mumbai and now from Tuesday, January 14, he will also start practicing with the Mumbai team. The Mumbai team, which has already been eliminated from the Vijay Hazare Trophy, will enter the second phase of the Ranji Trophy starting from January 23 and for this the team will start preparations from Tuesday.

In the report, quoting MCA source, it has been said that Rohit will participate in the practice with the team but he has not yet given information about whether he will be available to play Ranji Trophy matches or not. Mumbai has to face Jammu and Kashmir in the group round match from January 23. This source told that Rohit will soon tell MCA about this also.

This decision of Rohit has come at a time when his bat had failed miserably in Australia and then after reviewing the team's performance, BCCI has instructed all the players to play domestic cricket. Coach Gautam Gambhir himself has made it clear in this matter that if a player is dedicated to Test cricket then he must play domestic red ball tournaments.
